see shells

Mr. Fitzgerald has had a slow week in this place, so he told me a little more about his life when I came in today. When he was 16, he ran away from home (again) but this time he joined the Ruritanian Navy (because the Brn Navy wasn't very big). He stayed there until he was 20, sailing around and working on the ships. He travelled all the way around Equatorial Cyberspace... Icasia, Udem, Uqamistan, and Concordia - he saw them all. He asked me to wait a moment and he brought back a shell from his office. He said he found it at Berri one day. I put my ear to it and I could hear the ocean. He didn't listen to it, as he said it would only make him want to be back on the water.

warning: girly moment

Just got back from another camp-for-food visit today. I went with Ezra and Zoe once again. It's definitely much easier to have three people instead of two helping to carry back the rations.

As we walked in, just like last time, I was searching around, trying to spot out Ian. And also just like the last, he was working at the registration desk. However, this time it was not so busy, so I told Ezra and Zoe to go ahead and they gave me a bit of attitude, but nothing as bad as I was expecting.

So, I approached the desk.

"Hi Ian," I said.
"Oh, hi!" he said. This was a good sign - he could remember my face. Now part of that awkwardness was over. "Ze... what is your name again? I'm terribly sorry."
"I'm Zeynep."
"Right, right."
"I just wanted to thank you for helping me with my groceries a few weeks ago." Now I had said something that was actually waranted in my first real conversation with this boy.
"Oh, not a worry. I was glad to be of service. So, are you in the camp often?"
"Not really. I usually come with a few of my family members to pick up our food supplies, but I try to avoid it as much as possible."
"I don't blame you, it's not a fun place to be. Well, I've got to get back to work. It was nice chatting with you Zeynep, I hope to see you again."
"Thanks, you too."

:) *sigh*

burny bits

I burnt dinner last night to a degree where you couldn't even eat it. I felt terrible. I was sitting and reading while I had to wait 30 minutes for the food to finish and I fell asleep. My mother was the only other person home, and she asleep in her bedroom. I woke up when my siblings came home and then I could smell something wasn't quite right in the kitchen. So, my family had to wait for an hour while I cooked the exact same thing again. To make things worse, we're running low on food supplies and Ezra wasn't able to bring anything home. However, we do get to pick up rations at the camp this week :) so hopefully we'll be back on track soon.
