warning: girly moment
Just got back from another camp-for-food visit today. I went with Ezra and Zoe once again. It's definitely much easier to have three people instead of two helping to carry back the rations.
As we walked in, just like last time, I was searching around, trying to spot out Ian. And also just like the last, he was working at the registration desk. However, this time it was not so busy, so I told Ezra and Zoe to go ahead and they gave me a bit of attitude, but nothing as bad as I was expecting.
So, I approached the desk.
"Hi Ian," I said.
"Oh, hi!" he said. This was a good sign - he could remember my face. Now part of that awkwardness was over. "Ze... what is your name again? I'm terribly sorry."
"I'm Zeynep."
"Right, right."
"I just wanted to thank you for helping me with my groceries a few weeks ago." Now I had said something that was actually waranted in my first real conversation with this boy.
"Oh, not a worry. I was glad to be of service. So, are you in the camp often?"
"Not really. I usually come with a few of my family members to pick up our food supplies, but I try to avoid it as much as possible."
"I don't blame you, it's not a fun place to be. Well, I've got to get back to work. It was nice chatting with you Zeynep, I hope to see you again."
"Thanks, you too."
:) *sigh*
